She is fabulous!

I’ve known Laura for a few years. Her daughter Emma was one of my teen models for awhile and I’ve also photographed her family. 

In our forties, we have a confidence we likely have not had in our earlier years.

My hope for this project is that the women participating can feel as amazing as they really are and that the women who read their story can be inspired.

Where were you born and raised?

Born in Cincinnati but raised Fort Thomas, Kentucky.

 

What is your favorite memory from childhood?

We traveled a lot as kid, I was lucky to have that experience. Going to grandmas house she had some stories that’s for sure!

 

 

What did you want to be when you grew up?

 

A lawyer. 

 

What do you do for a living?

I manage private aircraft for owners all over the country.

 

What has been your biggest accomplishment?

Raising two kids as a single parent for the last 15 years.

 

 

Were there any challenges you had to overcome to get here?

Well I hate to think to much about them. In life we all have challenges. For me what I experienced during my first marriage changed me in many ways. I learned I could only count on myself to parent my children. Life isn’t always going to be easy. Im a survivor and the challenges have only made me stronger.

 

 

Do you have a life motto or favorite quote? Tell me why you like it.

“I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel”. You never know what someone else is going thru be kind.

 

 

What do you like to do in your free time?

I like to paint, try new restaurants with friends.

 

 

Tell me about your family!

My son Austin is 21, my daughter Emma is 17 starting college in the fall. And we a adorable dog Tobie. 

 

What do you hope your children take away from you being their mother?

That I always tried my best, parenting isn’t easy and sometimes we make mistakes. But no matter what I always tried. 

 

What do you want people to remember most about you?

Wow this one is hard. I always tried to make them laugh, I was reliable when they needed me. And I was always willing to listen.

 

 

Why did you want to participate in this project?

Well I didn’t realize my 40’s was going to happen so soon! Becoming an empty nester is a new phase In life. It’s time to start doing things for me again. I had a mini heart attack on Thanksgiving day. That was a real eye opener for me that I wasn’t putting myself first. Time for that to change. My kids will always be my number 1 but I’m getting me back too and stepping out of my comfort zone and trying new things. Like a photo shoot!
